It was a wonderful weekend for Winter Games. The weather was perfect and the ice was nearly three feet thick. There were hundreds of vehicles and thousands of people on the ice in Smiths Bay. It seemed rather redundant to have koozies on beer cans but I decided that was to keep the beer from freezing. Jim, Mary Ella and I took in the omlet brunch and tried to get close enough to see several hundred people take in the Polar Plunge. After that we finished by spending an hour or so in the beverage tent.

Record cold
The pictures show what it looks like when it is 22 degrees below zero. Actually it is a beautiful sight. The temperature set a record set in 1897! This will be an experience for my brother who will arrive to Iowa later this morning. I'm looking forward to spending a few day with Jim and Mary Ella.

TV cabinet
The last two days I have been working on a cabinet for the TV. As you can see the TV is in place and the shelf for the satellite receiver and DVD player. The shelve have yet to be made. Tomorrow I think I'll do the shelves but also have a sea of paper work to do.
It is supposed to really cold and windy tomorrow besides snow so may have to work out on the elliptical. That doesn't do Nalo much good!

Chicken
A few days ago Norvin had four semi loads of chicken manure delivered. That is 100 tons, 200,000 pounds! Today a pay loader and spreader came and disbursed it on the farm. With a slight breeze and above freezing temperatures you can imagine the smell. Fortunately the wind is blowing so as not to carry the smell to the neighbors.

Sorry that it has been so long since the last post. Michael threatened bodily harm to me is I did not start posting. Not being a fool here it is.
The landscape is rather bleak around here after the snow and ice storms we had while I was in Europe. It was hard on the pheasant population as their beaks ice up and they can suffocate. There are some left as Nalo kicked up two hens on our walk today and I see some along the road. Not as many as there were. The deer didn't suffer as I saw eleven today.
Been doing some woodwork. There is some trim to do and some doors to case. There is always something to do which is a good thing.
